image1photos represents my photographic work over the past 30+ years. Most of my work is digital, but I plan to add images of some of my older 35mm slides and black and white film work from the days when I had my own darkroom.
I was inspired by my father who also took and developed his own black and white images before the business of raising a family and earning a living got in the way. He gave me my first Brownie Kodak camera when I was a child. Little did I know this would become a life-long passion. I now know that Dad understood how the art of photography can get into your blood.
I was born in Newport News, Virginia but we moved to California when I was 4. We then spent a year in St. Paul, Minnesota after which Mom and Dad moved back to Southern California where I grew up, went to college, raised my family and continue to live. I recently retired after almost 40 years in the field of deaf education. I have lived in Hampton, VA, Washington D.C., St. Paul, MN, and Corona, Riverside, and Long Beach, CA.
I currently shoot with a Canon EOS and a Nikon L110. I am drawn to unique compositions, repetitious images, architecture, travel scenes, American themes, working artisans and musicians, and ironic images. Among my galleries is one called American Tapestry. This group of photos addresses anything uniquely American; it also includes pieces that speak to the American conscience. I hope you enjoy all of my galleries and thank you for stopping by!
